We’re excited to be working towards adding a second practice to the Skye Medical family. The clinic in Canning Vale is anticipated to open on 8th April 2024.
Values
We value healthcare as a precious commodity and believe that the best health outcomes are achieved by listening to our patients.
Honesty, integrity and respect are at the core of what we do.
With our teaching ethos we promote education for the doctors and staff who work here and for our patients to increase their understanding of their and their family’s health.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide the highest standard of patient care whilst incorporating a holistic approach toward diagnosis and management of illness.
We are committed to promoting health, wellbeing and disease prevention to all patients. We do not discriminate in the provision of excellent care and aim to treat all patients with dignity and respect.
Teaching ethos
Skye Medical founder, Dr MacKinnon has always had a strong commitment to passing on his knowledge to the next wave of health professionals.
Dr MacKinnon is a clinical mentor at University of Western Australia and Notre Dame and the acting Dean of General Practice at Curtin University and as such we regularly host medical students at the clinic.
We have been eager to welcome likeminded GPs and nurses to the clinic who have the same teaching ethos.
Whilst we are very grateful to patients who are happy to have students observe their consultations, your consultations are private and we are not offended by patients refusing to be observed.
The practice also trains GP registrars.
GP registrars are fully qualified doctors who are committed to the speciality of General Practice and are training for their specialist exams under the guidance of the GP specialist within the practice.
The Building
Skye Medical Canning Vale opened in April 2024 as the sister clinic to Skye Medical Armadale which has been welcoming patients since 2016!
The premises is a custom fit out in a new development, just off Ranford Road. Overlooking a beautiful park, the practice has a fresh and light feel, with modern and comfortable spaces.
Awards
We don’t go to work to receive awards – but it’s nice to have recognition when it’s deserved.
The practice and the team have been fortunate to receive some awards in the time it’s been open.

We’re thrilled to have some original works of cultural art around the practice by a local artist.
Around the practice we’re also delighted to display some photography from the Isle of Skye – the place that inspired the name of the clinic.
